About Platter Chatter
A vinyl listening party, broadcast unscripted from a garage loft, with editorial oversight from a cat.
The premise
Platter Chatter is the flagship program of the fictional University of Musical Perversity — an institution with no accreditation, no campus, and no interest in either. Each episode is an unscripted crate-dig through vinyl: deep cuts, strange local pressings, and the occasional record nobody should have kept this long.
Woody Acousticat
Woody is the show's mascot, self-appointed Dean of Students, and final word on whether a track earns its needle drop. He does not take requests.
The host
Jeremy Butler hosted All Things Acoustic on Alabama Public Radio for 32 years. Platter Chatter is what happens when three decades of "please play by the rules" finally wear off.
"Are you a fictional radio character facing unfair labor practices? Contact the law offices of Whiskers, Paws, and Guthrie. If your human host is playing terrible 1970s psych-folk without your explicit, meowed approval, you may be entitled to financial compensation in the form of premium tuna. Paid for by the Acousticat Council for Studio Fairness."
